  • The latest statistics indicate that more than 30 million people in the U.S. will suffer from an eating disorder; 10 million of those individuals are men.

  • Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, with nearly 1 person dying every hour as a direct result of an eating disorder.

  • Anorexia is the 3rd most common chronic illness among adolescents, after asthma and obesity.

  • Over 70 percent of those who suffer with eating disorders will not seek treatment due to stigma, misconceptions, lack of education, diagnosis and lack of access to care

  • statistics also show that up to 80 percent of patients who receive and complete eating disorder treatment will recover or improve significantly.

  • About 50% of all people in the U.S. either know someone with an eating disorder or have been personally affected by one

Low cost Online

A low cost online option for support can be found at 18percent which is a free online community based off Slack, where one can receive peer to peer support. 18percent has channels on various mental health issues, one of which is eating disorders.
